Collections for Local School
The outreach committee reached out to teachers and staff at Mt. View Elementary School for their wish list of items to start the 2018 school year. J.J. Spellman, a longtime member of OSLC and Vice Principal at Mt. View Elementary has requested the following:
*Hand sanitizer, *Smelly stickers, *Kleenex, *Disinfectant
Around 200 of the schools 1500 students are temporary residents of the Vista Colina Family Emergency Shelter in the Sunnyslope area. Staff at the school have been appreciative of our congregation's generosity in providing boys & girls socks and underwear for Kindergarteners and 1st graders (sizes 4,5,6) Purchasing this items are fine (purchased less expensively by the case) and contributions are welcome.
The school starts the first week of August and anything we can do for the staff and students is always appreciated. If you have any questions contact, Lennie Andrews, Barbara Fugitt, Claudia Grunow or Karla in the office.
Serve Pancakes at Grace Sept 16
Every Sunday morning, Grace Lutheran Church in downtown Phoenix serves breakfast to more than 200 people living on the streets. Several times a year, Our Saviour's sends a group of people to help cook and serve the pancakes and sausages. The next opportunity to serve in this capacity will be on Sunday, July 8 The Our Saviour's crew needs to arrive by 6:15 am at Grace wearing closed-toed shoes and a hat. If you would like to be part of this important ministry, please sign up in the Peterson Fellowship Hall. If transportation is an issue or if you have more questions, please contact the church office or Ross Orr.
Our remaining 2018 dates are: September 16 and November 1
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Do you knit or crochet? Then come to an informational meeting about the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Prayer shawls to be given to people who need to feel wrapped up in the love of Christ and find out how you can help. Want to know more? Speak with Lennie Andrews or contact the church office.
Feed the Hungry
Please help feed the hungry by contributing to the local food shelf housed at our sister congregation, Trinity Lutheran. There is a collection grocery cart in the lobby of the sanctuary, or feel free to drop of food in the office during the week.
In addition, ready to eat food is distributed to people experiencing homeless who come to our church.
Crop Walk 2017
We had a great group of walkers (a few missed the photo) and better yet, raised over $2200 for CROP Walk Hunger! Thanks to all who gave of their time and their treasure.
Lutheran Disaster Relief - How to Help
Lutheran Disaster Response – even as the fires persist in California – is responding to needs. Recovery will take years, and Lutheran Disaster Response will be there to accompany those affected through every phase of this disaster.

Grand Canyon Synod Global Engagement Team
If you are interested in helping congregations in our synod connect more globally, particularly in the areas of hunger relief and the Senegal partnership, consider joining the Global Engagement team. Led by Pastor Karn, this synod team meets regularly at the synod offices (1819 East Morten Ave., #100A, Phoenix, AZ 85020).
