Sunday, December 16 at 4:00 pm.
Join us in an evening of Fellowship and Caroling, as we spread good cheer in our community. Ollie the Trolley will transport us from place to place and we will return to the church for special holiday treats. Festive attire is encouraged!
Angel Tree will try something a little different this year. Lutheran Social Services has found that many older people, especially those living in more rural areas of our state, are underserved during Christmas gift giving. Many struggle to afford essentials and often are not able to replace worn or tattered pajamas or clothing. So this year our Angel Tree will throw a Pajama Party.
The Angels’ tags will list pajamas for a man or a woman and a requested size. Because these will be delivered to more rural areas we will have the Angels up earlier and will need to have them returned earlier for delivery. Angels will be available on Sundays, November 25 and December 2. Rather than wrapping the gifts, please use holiday gift bags and attach the Angel to the bag. The gifts must be returned to church on Sunday December 9 to be taken to Lutheran Social Services for delivery that week.
Angel Tree has always been a successful program. Members look forward to sharing joy with those who receive our gifts. If you would like more information please contact Suellen or the church office.
Serve breakfast to those in need
Every Sunday morning, Grace Lutheran Church in downtown Phoenix serves breakfast to more than 200 people living on the streets. Several times a year, Our Saviour's sends a group of people to help cook and serve the pancakes and sausages. The next opportunity to serve in this capacity will be in 2019. The Our Saviour's crew needs to arrive by 6:30 am at Grace wearing closed-toed shoes and a hat. If you would like to be part of this important ministry, please sign up in the Peterson Fellowship Hall. If transportation is an issue or if you have more questions, please contact the church office or Ross Orr.
Good news, Grace is now officially certified by Maricopa County to serve food to the public! This means they are wanting as many helpers as possible to get a Food Employee Certificate (formerly a Food Handlers Card). The card can be obtained for only $8.00 and it is good for 3 years (for an extra $2.00 you can choose an option to be able to print out your card anytime during the 3 year period.) To take a simple test and receive your Food Employee Certificate go to http://www.azfoodhandlers.com/Register3.aspx.

Grand Canyon Synod Global Engagement Team
If you are interested in helping congregations in our synod connect more globally, particularly in the areas of hunger relief and the Senegal partnership, consider joining the Global Engagement team. Led by Pastor Karn, this synod team meets regularly at the synod offices (1819 East Morten Ave., #100A, Phoenix, AZ 85020).
Feed the Hungry
Please help feed the hungry by contributing to the local food shelf housed at our sister congregation, Trinity Lutheran. There is a collection grocery cart in the lobby of the sanctuary, or feel free to drop of food in the office during the week.
In addition, ready to eat food is distributed to people experiencing homeless who come to our church.
Help with Worship
Many people share their gifts each Sunday morning to make our worship flow smoothly. If you would like to help out as an usher, reader, to set up communion, or even greet people who attend, please contact the church office or Pastor Karn and let us know.
